Dr. Johnson grew up in Stockton, California (lovingly referred to as the “armpit” of California) and then southern Idaho, raising pigs and sheep in 4-H and FFA, playing basketball (state champions 4 years in a row!), fixing every kind of electrical and mechanical item with her father, and aspiring to be a farmer. When she was 5 and got her first kitten, her parents pulled her aside and reminded her “we can’t glue *this* item back together so you have to be careful.” A Washington State University veterinary school graduate, she moved to Seattle in 1993 and settled in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood, where she has reluctantly agreed to composting. She enjoying bicycling, swimming, rowing, snowboarding, napping with the orange tabby cat, and sipping a good single malt scotch. Her biggest heroes are her sister Michele “Sherlock Holmes,” her spouse of 20 years PEB, Mr. Spock, Kalinda from the Good Wife, Mycroft Holmes, Suze Orman, Margaret Thatcher, and Scooby-Doo. Doctor Johnson frequently teaches anatomy and physiology at a local community college in the evenings. She has a certification in animal physical rehabilitation and professionally enjoys surgery, acute-care, and long-term care medicine. Doctor Johnson particularly loves solving problems, fixing things, and helping people and pets live more comfortable lives.
